After the season's opener at Monster Mountain (where I finished 8th out of 9) It's back to the home track (details at www.floridaoffroad.com ) The main problem in Alabama was a lack of power traced to two main reasons. Lack of full throttle travel at the carb. losing top end power, really noticeable on the hills, and lack of mid-range power due to an old carb. Adjusted throttle cable and new carb. should cure this - we'll see! The following pictures show a few other minor modifications that have taken place as of March 4th. The next race is March 11th so race preparations are well in hand. Pictures show new dirt deflector panel (it's needed trust me!) and crankcase breather/catch tank. The bracket under the deflector panel is a guide for loading the car onto it's trailer and is removed for racing. Pictures show new mesh on engine cooling intake (the previous one was too restrictive) and new top side panel (keeps more dirt out!) Just few race pics. Ran better with the new carb, but still a bit lacking in power. Overly large rear tires are part of the problem. I finished 7th out of 8 but was actually equal 5th on placings but missed out due a higher weighting on the final race. Reliability was good except for poor oil pressure and leaks but at least all 3 heats were finished. I'll have do a bottom end rebuild before the next race. Earning a few air miles!
